In the past I had set the wundermap radar up as one of my favorites and I go to it numerous times a day if there is a storm expected. In my opinion, the radar track that is important to me is the past "historical" 2-3 hours so I can see if that storm will hit me. Also, the next 2-3 hours into the future for the "proposed" track. Can you make an animation period setting for the above combination? I have yet to be able to figure out how to make this work for me without having to custom enter the time data for each day. That is a real pain. Greg

This has already been mentioned, but i'd like to present some more specific insight.

Most people will probably want to do just as the video says: open up the wundermap and hit the animate button, and see the last hour or so. As such, being able to save a custom time period (and not as a cookie or otherwise local) to animate as well as keeping the timeline collapsed next time you log in would be optimal. If that's supposed to be happening when i hit save prefs, it's not working for me. (and when i say that, i say that as a person who's tried it on... *tallies* seven hardware/OS/browser combinations)

IMO, the next step would be the MENU, not the timeline. Why ? Two clicks, that's why. However, if we want to tweak the animation timeframe via the menu it needs improvement. A day as the minimum option ? Unless i'm missing something, if we had fiddled with the timeline "manually" - there's no simple, inbuilt way to revert to an hour (or something more useful than a day.) I think more people than not would rather go into a menu and hit One Hour, Two Hours, whatever, and have it simply animate that time frame, than fiddle with a scrolly scrubby triple control screen occupying whatnot. The scrolly scrubby triple control screen occupying whatnot IS POWERFUL - but i'd imagine fewer users would need or want that as their default. Simply adding a few entries - say 1 hour, 4, maybe something along the lines of "last 2 hours +30 min forecast" - to the current Animation Period menu and assuring that hiding the scrubber is persistent would be simple and make loads of people happy. I mean, why not ? That's what the menu is as it stands: a shortcut. So why not have some more useful shortcuts in there ?

In short: Improve the Animation Period menu, allowing it to be an intermediary between the (user-settable) default time frame and the scrubby whatnot and keep the scrubby whatnot hidden if the user desires.

The first time I displayed the legends, the layers I had selected were radar and satellite. There is a heading at the top that says "Radar" and no heading for "Satellite". However, the fourth line was really for satellite, even though it seems to be under the "Radar" heading. At first I thought the legend for satellite was actually missing. I finally figured out what was going on when I displayed the legend when only the satellite layer was enabled. The confusion I encountered can be avoided if the satellite legend is properly identified as such and in a manner consistent with the way the radar legend is identified.

Apart from the blue/orange coloration of the lower portion with the scrubber whatnot, there isn't a sufficient degree of separation between it and the timeline atop it. Yes, once you know how the three work together (indicator, scrubby thing, zoom) it's workable, but it's not something you can just glance at and just know what you're seeing. IMO, if, in between the two controls, there was a "bolder" separator, even a few pixels, to let the user know "these serve entirely unique purposes" - it could only be good. In general though, Having three (four counting the menu) controls for an animation will be overwhelming and offputting to prior wundermap users.
