Animations with low number of frames are slow; focus should be frames per second so i can perceive motion and quickly note trends
for example, show satellite over past 2 hours. it will take 20+ seconds and you will only get 3-4 frames. to watch the animation 4 times will take 2 minutes. frame rates vary between different products but you could adjust speed of animation based on how many frames are present

@KFLLONGW11: I recommend creating a new idea for this. I see the original post as being about the rate of frame changes and the comment about data frequency. Correct me if I'm wrong.

i wish the radar image interval between each image was 1 minute upades instead of 6 minutes which is what yours is at/default..would be so much smoother and better to watch if the image updates in animation were a minute or two rather than a gap of 6 minutes, have been wanting this for years.

Thanks, emodulor.
Are the faster speeds on the speed control list not sufficiently speedy? The key challenge with frames-per-time-period as a measure is that each layer has different time intervals between "frames", e.g., radar, sat, weather stations, and the new temperature map image all have different intervals between data. What does it mean then, if you have multiple layers on and running at a rate of 2 frames a second?
