Why is my station indicating Station Error?

Background: Certain types of Personal Weather Station upload and data errors are detected by automated software. The "Station Error" message on the left side of the site indicates that the automated software detected a problem.

Types of problems:

  1. Time Zone error - your station is uploading data with time stamps that are exactly 1 hour in the future or past. Your weather station software sends times to Wunderground in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). We then convert the GMT time to your local time zone, which is set in the My Stations" properties. Please check your computer, console, and weather station software time zone settings.

  2. Time Offset - Your station is consistently sending weather observations with a time stamp that is more than 5 minutes in the past or future compared to the current time. Your weather station software sends times to Wunderground in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). We then convert the GMT time to your local time zone, which is set in the My Stations" properties. Please check your computer, console, and weather station software time and date settings.

  3. Temperature Sensor Error - The thermometer sensor on your weather station has reported temperatures that disagree with surrounding stations within the past 36 hours. Please make sure your thermometer is never receiving direct sunlight and is well-ventilated. For more information, see our guidelines on installing thermometers: Weather Station Installation Guidelines. Please note that your station has not been removed from the site. This message is to help you report accurate information.
